CHAPTER 4 : Keyword research

Use keyword research to earn money online

Keywords are the words and phrases in your content that are used to make it possible for people to find your site or pages via search engines. Keywords are one of the main elements of search engine optimization.

Keywords are normally used as the title of your pages. For example : your website is www.studybees.com , your niche is about 'how to study better'. You want to write a page about improving memory and you found a keyword - 'how to improve your memory'. This keyword will be used as the title of the page where you will be writing about improving memory, the page URL should be like this : www.studybees.com/how-to-improve-your-memory/ .

Use keyword as page title.

The main idea is that you need to know what kind of keywords people are using to search for the products, services or information that you are offering. You want to use keywords that have high searches every month but with low competition, so that your page can be ranked better and easier. To look for keywords that have high amount of searches and low amount of competition, you need to utilize keyword research tool.

Keyword research tool

You need to subscribe to a reliable keyword research tool in order to make sure every keyword or title of your page has high searches and low competitions. Jaaxy is a powerful and reliable keyword research tool.

How to interpret the table

AVG : The average number of searches the keyword receives every month.

Traffic : The estimated number of visits per month to your webpage if you manage to rank on the first page.

QSR (Quoted Search Results) : The number of competing websites using the exact keyword.

KQI (Keyword Quality Indicator) : Green is good, yellow is ok, red is poor.

SEO : A scoring indicator, scale from 1 to 100, the higher the score, the more likely your keyword can rank on the first page.

The most important information is Traffic and QSR or competitions. From the example above, the keyword 'how to improve your memory' is not a good one because you have 341 competitions (QSR), we want the competition (QSR) to be below 300, the lower the better. There are other keywords suggestions in the table for you to choose.

NB : You want keywords that have more than 300 Traffic and less than 300 QSR.

    Hi Jim,
The actual results differ from what was predicted by Jaaxy could be due to the following reasons:
    – the keyword chosen has low competition, but those competition are performing better in-terms of ranking tactics
    – your page has not been indexed by Google yet
    – your competitors’ pages have more visitors (better engagement) and quality backlinks in comparison to yours

Anyhow, Jaaxy is just a mathematical calculation prediction, it may not be accurate all the time.

Hi there. I currently use jaaxy for my keyword selection, but I have to say that most of the keywords that I choose do not rate like jaaxy says they will. I’ve chosen many keywords that they claim have very little competition and very high likeliness of page one, but they fail to produce the results. What do you think of that? Shouldn’t the results be similar to what jaaxy predicts?

This is a nice intro to keyword research. Another tip I would add would be to try to include your keyword in the first 150 words of your post, and in the last paragraph as well! 🙂

I personally use Jaaxy for my blog and it is the BEST key word search tool out there, hands down. I liked the information on how to interpret the table, as some of it I really wasn’t super sure on how the data is used. Thanks for the post, glad I came across your website!
