How to promote your website.

This chapter will cover some of the more advanced techniques for promoting your website, post or content. The most successful content marketers use them, and they have hundreds of thousands of readers. Great content is part of the equation, but without any effort promoting your content, nothing will ever happen.

Here are the most practical and effective ways to promote your content :

1. Ask an Influencer for an Influential Quote

A quote, advise or comment from a professional or expert will make your content more reliable. More importantly you may be able to tap on their readers if they agree to help.

When you manage to get a quote from an influencer,put the quote in the post stating the influencer's name and website, include a link to the influencer's website and social accounts. Once your post is published, email the influencer notifying them the content is published and ask them to share it on theirsocial media and possibly include it in their email newsletter.

2. Create 20+ Snippets for Social Media Sharing 

For every post you created, you should produce 20+ snippets that you can share on social media. A snippet can be any of the following:

  • Variations of the title
  • Short statements from the content
  • Short quotes from the content
  • Statistics from the content

Snippet is like summary or introduction to your post. Producing snippets is not hard at all. Go into your content and pull out at least 20 snippets for every post. Share the snippets on social media over the next several weeks or even months. Remember to evaluate the best hours in a day to share your snippets in social media.

3. Mention Your Influencer When Sharing In Social Media

Once your content is published, share it on social media and mention the people you’ve referenced. These can be part of the snippets you use from the previous section.

Notify them about you mentioning them in your posts and some of the people you mention will see that you’ve mentioned them and some will re-share with their own fans. 

 

4. Contact People Who Have Shared Similar Content

Contact people who have shared content similar to the content you just published. Research for people who shared similar content, but not your competitors. Select only those with significant blog readers or social media fans. 

Go to your competitors' websites and social media accounts. Search for readers or social media fans who shared your competitors' contents. Send them a direct message or email about your post and ask for their point of view and if they would like to share them.

 

5. Contact People Who Have Linked to Similar Content

Search for people who have linked to similar content, and introduce your content to them and explain why it's worth their time reading and linking to your website.

There are tools that help you to find links to a website or URL. Two of the best are Ahrefs and Open Site Explorer.

Identify websites that are offering similar contents. Copy the URL and paste them into Ahrefs or Open Site Explorer. You’ll get a list of pages that have linked to these items. Contact them and ask them to consider linking to your content, go back to BuzzStream to find contact information.

6. Create Videos to Connect with Totally Different Audience

Turn your content into a video. Publish it on YouTube, Vimeo, and other online video communities where there are millions of users looking for great videos.

Your video will be able to be ranked on the first page much easier. Google will also include a thumbnail of the video, which increases click-through rate. You can attract a lot of additional clicks by having your videos show up in the first page even if it is not ranked in the first or second position.

 

7. Share your Content in SlideShare

SlideShare receives tens of millions of unique visitors each month. This is one of the biggest audiences on the web. According to Alexa, SlideShare is in the Top 150 sites in the world.

You will need to optimize the title and description. The intelligent SlideShare will transcribe the presentation for you so that all of your content can be crawled by search engines like Google and Bing.

It is worth to create SlideShare presentations because SlideShare, like YouTube videos, often rank very high in search results.

 

8. Add a Link to Your New Content on Your Most Viewed & Shared Posts

Go to Google Analytics and identify which posts are being heavily trafficked within the last three months. Add a link to your new content, directing visitors to your new content.

To identify which posts are heavily shared on social media, use Social Crawlytics. It is very easy to use the tool, just type in your URL to find the most shared content on your site. Again, put a link to your new content.

The links you put in most viewed and shared posts can be text links or graphic links.

 

9. Submit your content to Blogging Communities

There are several blogging communities that allow you to submit and publish your content on their website, and these communities have significant numbers of audiences. However the competition is strong, but if your content is interesting enough, you can attract some good traffic.

10. Promote on StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is becoming more and more popular. Promote your content on StumbleUpon, make sure you have catchy title and interesting pictures.
